Rose, A Gift of Love and Health for the Skin
The Beginning of a Love Story
There is no other flower that captivates, intoxicates, invokes passion, instills a sense of beauty and harmony, and promotes health all at the same time; more than a rose. Cleopatra scatter rose petals all over her palace before Mark Anthonyβs visits so that whenever he gets a whiff of rose scent, it will remind him of the queen. Galen, a Greek physician who lived from 130 AD to 210 AD and who was credited for the invention of the first ever cold cream, uses rose petals as one of its ingredients. Rose water is even used to alleviate stress and anxiety.
Benefits in skin care
Rose contains a wide array of vitamins and minerals, such as Vitamins A and C. It also contains antioxidants and has potent anti-inflammatory and astringent properties. And for the wrinkle-phobics out there, rose water is known to inhibit elastase, which is known to degenerate our skinβs elastic fibers and is an early precursor to wrinkles. And it is no wonder that Aromatica, a Korean holistic beauty and lifestyle brand, uses rose as its muse in creating their Rose Absolute Line.
The Brand
Aromatica believes in the healing power of nature and in using the age-old and proven knowledge from aromatherapy and apothecary. They create clean and sustainable skincare products to bring balance not only to our skin but also to our body and mind. Jerry Kim, founded the brand in 2004 and has been one of the early initiators of clean beauty in Korea. Since 2005, the company has been producing paraben-free and silicone-free products and in 2009 has introduced EWG to Korea by being its Safe Cosmetics Campaign Partner in the US Environmental Organization.
Aromatica is Vegan and Eco-friendly
As a registered partner of the Vegan Society, they avoid animal-derived components and selects only the best organic and natural ingredients for its products. In fact, it is so committed in the promotion of good environmental and societal practices that its eco-friendly smart factory reduces energy consumption by 90% by recollecting heat emitted from the manufacturing processes. It doesnβt evenΒ end here. The company is actively involved in social causes through their global mission support. They help children living in difficult circumstances and those with disabilities and they also work with communities and churches to improve and make a difference in the lives of many.
A Rose by Any Other Name
Aromaticaβs Rose Absolute Cream Cleanser contains Rosa damascena flower extract as its main ingredients. And in addition to that, itβs a mixture of other wonderful botanical extracts from calendula, chamomile, indian gooseberry, geranium, rosemary, among others. So it is no wonder that this luxurious foam feels so pleasurably intoxicating and invigorating for the skin. It cleanses without compromising my skinβs natural barrier. At the same time, the rose extract acts as a gentle antiseptic and anti-inflammatory to prevent acne and to soothe the skin, specially during break-outs. Although it has a mild scent of rose, it is not as overpowering or irritating as some rose-infused products Iβve tried and the smell does not linger.
Results
As someone with dry skin, I am quite selective with the cleansers I use. Many claim to be suitable for dry skin but they only make my skin feel like Iβve slept on a mud mask. This face wash makes my skin feel cleaner, fresher and supple with every wash. It has definitely been a great addition to both my morning and evening routine. I know that my love story with this brand does not end with their Rose Absolute Cream Cleanser.
